Female cells are present in solid tumors from male patients. This photomicrograph represents tissue from a male patient (Kaposi sarcoma) stained for Y and X chromosomes. Fluorescence in situ hybridization was used to detect X chromosomes. Nuclei were counterstained in blue with 4,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole. See Avital et al. beginning on page
