PERMISSIONS

Procedure to Request Permission

Permission requests, as described below, to photocopy, distribute, and republish material from AlphaMed Press publications should be directed to the Copyright Clearance Center (CCC):

• Classroom handouts
• Print and electronic coursepacks
• Interlibrary loan
• Library reserves
• Business purposes (sharing information with investors, prospects, clients, and partners)
• Republish figures, tables, abstracts, or excerpts in another book, journal, or newsletter
• Republish figures, tables, abstracts, or excerpts in a brochure or pamphlet
• Use of figures, tables, abstracts, or excerpts in PowerPoint
• Use of figures, tables, abstracts, or excerpts in a dissertation or thesis paper

The CCC will grant requests only to reproduce our material exactly as it was originally published. You can submit your request to the CCC via traditional mail, fax, or email. Additionally, you can secure permission online using their automated online system. Submit requests to:

All other permission requests should be directed to the Publisher. Please submit your request in writing to AlphaMed Press at Permissions@AlphaMedPress.com. When submitting your permission request, please include the following information:

• A complete citation of the requested material (title of journal, volume number, issue number, year, author name, article title, specific page numbers)
• The intended use of the material (for publication, slides, handouts, etc.)
• If for handouts: the number of copies being made
• If for republication: the publisher and the name of the new publication
• How the material will be reproduced and distributed
• Complete contact details (name, institution/company name, address, telephone, fax, email)

Internet sites interested in linking to information published by AlphaMed Press must submit a written request and include the following information: Originating website URL, company business focus, complete contact information, and description of the specific page or material to be linked.

Response Time
In most cases, permission requests will be processed within 5–10 business days. If you require an expedited response, an additional rush fee of $20 for educational/institutional customers and $50 for commercial customers will apply.

Authors
As an author, you are granted rights for a large number of author uses, including use by your employing institute or company. These rights are granted and permitted without the need to obtain specific permission from AlphaMed Press, provided a full credit line is prominently placed (i.e., author name(s), journal name, copyright year, volume number, inclusive pages, and copyright holder). The author rights include:

• the right to make copies of the article for your own personal use, including for your own classroom teaching use;
• the right to make copies and distribute copies (including through email) of the article to research colleagues, for the personal use by such colleagues (but not commercially or systematically, e.g., via an email list or list serve);
• the right to present the article at a meeting or conference and to distribute copies of such paper or article to the delegates attending the meeting;
• for the author’s employer, if the article is a “work for hire,” made within the scope of the author’s employment, the right to use all or part of the information in (any version of) the article for other intra-company use (e.g., training);
• patent and trademark rights and rights to any process or procedure described in the article;
• the right to include the article in full or in part in a thesis or dissertation (provided that this is not to be published commercially);
• the right to use the article or any part thereof in a printed compilation of works of the author, such as collected writings or lecture notes (subsequent to publication of the article in the journal);
• the right to prepare other derivative works, to extend the article into book-length form, or to otherwise reuse portions or excerpts in other works, with full acknowledgment of its original publication in the journal; and
• the right to post their work as the final peer-reviewed author’s manuscript (but not published layout) on their own website, their institution’s website (website only, NOT repository), and their funding body’s archive, provided a link is made to the AlphaMed Press version.
